Spring 2012 API Photo Contest Winners

The API Spring 2012 Photo Contest winners have been chosen! After much difficult deliberation (and comments on the Flickr photoset), the API staff selected the following winners from among a pool of very talented photographers.

1) First Place ($100 cash prize)

Madi Alexander, student from Oklahoma City University in API’s program at Qatar University in Doha, Qatar. Madi did a wonderful job of capturing the dichotomy in much of the gulf region (but particularly Doha) between old and new with this photo at the Islamic Museum of Art in Doha.

2) Second Place ($50 cash prize)

We like to call this one the “Eye-full Tower” thanks to the way Mary Vidal (University of Rhode Island) captured the famous landmark while studying with API in Paris, France.

3) Third Place ($25 cash prize)

Kathleen Klima (University of Wisconsin, La Crosse) took many great shots during her time studying abroad with API in Buenos Aires, but the one that caught our eye was one we dubbed “psychedelic llama.” You’ll see why.

Thank you to all of our wonderful study abroad alumni who submitted photos – you did a great job!
