Which study abroad program is right for ME?

With spring 2011 application deadlines fast approaching, you may be finding it difficult to narrow down the myriad of study abroad options and decide on the best program for YOU.

Never fear!

There are numerous study abroad listing and review sites where you can research unbiased student opinions (and leave your own) about study abroad programs like API, and we’ve listed several of them here (in alphabetical order) that you may wish to investigate. If you are an API Alumnus, we encourage you to write your own reviews as well!

API reviews on Facebook

API Facebook Page

One of the easiest places to read reviews from former students (and contribute your own) is on the API Facebook Page. Visit our Page, “Like” us, and leave your comments. There is also an API Alumni group where you can ask questions of former students, or you may wish to contact an API Peer Mentor.

API reviews on Abroad101

This is one of a handful of sites that are specifically devoted to collecting and featuring student reviews of study abroad programs, with over 4,000 reviews on the site (and over 70 reviews of API programs). The good folks at Abroad101 also contributed to a recent guest post on the API Blog – check it out here!

API reviews on AbroadScout

AbroadScout is a a study abroad directory with student reviews, blogs, and international education news. They often post informative articles on study abroad, so check them out!

API on GoAbroad

One of the original and largest study abroad directories, this site has been dramatically redesigned over the past year, allowing for reviews and social sharing/integration (Facebook “Likes”, sharing on Twitter, Digg, etc). Click on the above link and see who’s “Liked” or shared API programs, and read reviews from past students!

API on Go! Overseas

Another great up-and-coming travel and study abroad site, Go! Overseas offers program listings and reviews, and occasionally features API guest bloggers (both staff and students).

API Reviews on RYSA

One of the original review sites, RYSA offers up many candid student reviews.

While student opinions can be very helpful in making your decision, we STRONGLY advise that you also book an appointment with the study abroad office on your home campus. Your school advisors are invaluable resources, and have in-depth knowledge on which programs (API included) are a good fit for students on your campus.

Apologies to any review sites I may have left out… I’d be happy to add them to the post if you can think of any 🙂

  2. Thanks for the shout-out, Jeramy! We’ll continue to work hard to help promote quality international education programs.

Recently came across another new review site called Where is Abroad – http://whereisabroad.com/

This site focuses more on the locations and experiences than specific programs, but still provides feedback from student travelers.

  4. Very few posts peak my interest or my comments, but this one was great!

    So glad to hear it!
