Meet Your Onsite Director

Your API on-site director will play an essential role in your study abroad experience. She will be there from the beginning, meeting you at the airport, leading the on-site orientation and cultural excursions, and assisting with any special needs or crises that arise during your time abroad. Your director is also a great source of information and advice on just about anything in your new (host) culture, so don’t be afraid to ask her lots of questions.  Odds are that her insight will be invaluable, whether you are feeling curious, frustrated, confused, upset, delighted, or just plain flabbergasted by French culture, the  educational system, your own cultural adjustment, and so on.

Julie is a native Texan who loves travel, art, design, education, the outdoors, languages, and vegetarian food! She obtained her Master’s degree in Foreign Language Education from the University of Texas at Austin, taught English as a Second Language for seven years, and has worked in international education for over fifteen years, assisting and advising both international students and American students studying abroad. She also worked abroad as an au pair in Biarritz, France and an English teacher in Pusan, South Korea, and speaks Spanish and French.  Julie has been employed at API for five years, managing college programs in Spain and Mexico, coordinating university faculty-led programs, and assisting with the development and management of our high school programs.  Julie’s looking forward to serving as the on-site director for the inaugural Aspire by API program in Paris this summer!
