Exploring Aix-en-Provence

The home of Cezanne, the place of schooling for thousands of students, and now one of my favorite places in all of France, Aix has something magical about it. I think because it offers so much. It was in Aix, that I found one of my favorite churches ever– Cathedrale Saint-Sauveur d’Aix.  And although it didn’t look small, it had the feeling of a cozy cathedral that you could come to, to write, read or pray.  Outside was a beautiful autumn day that we took advantage of by walking down the cobblestone streets, sampling chocolates and peaking our heads into small village stores. For dinner, we went to La Familia, a colorful pizzeria where I had some of the best pizza I have ever tasted–some slices of pizza topped with miel (honey) and layers of fromage, and another lighter pizza with greens, tomato sauce and some fresh mozzarella on top. C’est tres bon!
