API Gives Back

In the spirit of giving, we’re highlighting “API Gives Back” projects occurring at our host sites all over the world this Fall. API is committed to finding opportunities for our students to contribute to the communities in which they are living and learning abroad. Each semester, many API on-site directors organize an “API Gives Back Project” to promote greater understanding of local dynamics and provide further insight into the host culture. The API Gives Back Project may be an ongoing volunteer opportunity or a one-day commitment. Projects are often dedicated to supporting those in need or promoting environmental sustainability. Here is a sampling from current students:

API Buenos Aires helped out by spending the day volunteering at a Women’s shelter. Students painted benches, assisted with yard work and participated in various beautification projects. They then shared lunch with a group of women from the shelter upon completion of their work.

API Students in Mendoza spent a day preparing meals for the homeless. They prepped large amounts of food as a group as part of a larger ongoing community initiative that provides meals every Sunday.

API Grenoble crew helped to clean up the trails leading up to the Bastille. The Bastille in Grenoble is a fortress that provides an incredible view of Grenoble from the top of the trails. An estimated 600,000 visitors make the trek each year, so the clean-up efforts of Grenoble students will be appreciated by locals and future visitors alike!
