Teach in Colombia Participants Receive a Very Warm and Press-worthy Welcome to the Country!

This Tuesday, SENA, Colombia’s free national training service,  held a press conference announcing the arrival of 105 international volunteers to the country. The volunteers, which include over 70 CE by API participants, are young professionals, who will soon be dispersed throughout the country to begin the work of strengthening the country’s bilingual education.

SENA CEO, Gina Parody, outlined some of the program’s benefits during the meeting: “This is an example of restoring confidence in the country and how the institution opens the door to equal opportunities. She goes on to describe SENA’s two main objectives: “The first is to raise the level of English of instructors and the second is to raise the level for the apprentices. Colombia is a country with a very low level as English figures, only 2.4% of our graduates have it and only 6.4% of college speak it”.
