MLK Day – API Gives Back, Stateside Edition

In the spirit of community, many API staff graciously donated their time and energy this Monday to helping local Austin charities during the MLK Day of Service.

Staff chose causes that were near and dear to their hearts, and spent much of the day assisting in whatever ways they could. Some of the local charities visited included:

Chipping in at Casa Marianella

Casa Marianella, a temporary shelter for Central and South American immigrants searching for a better life.

GenAustin – the Girl’s Empowerment Network of Austin, aims to foster healthy self-esteem in girls by engaging them to explore and define their personal values and to build skills that empower them with confidence and courage to make wise choices.

API’s service day this January fits with our company ethos of giving back to our host communities, whether they be Austin, Boston, Budapest, or Buenos Aires.  For example, API students overseas may participate in an “API Gives Back Project.” Organized by API staff in each location, the API Gives Back Project may consist of an ongoing volunteer opportunity or a one-day commitment. The goal of these projects is to help API students express their thanks for the welcome they received from the local community.

Thanks again to the API staff and students working to help their communities!
