API Program Sneak Peak – Arabic Hybrid Programs

As we prepare for the upcoming fall semester, we wanted to give you a sneak peak to some exciting new API study abroad programs. Today’s installment – the API Arabic Studies Hybrid Programs.

One Language, Many Cultures – Arabic Studies Hybrid Programs
Students who are interested in studying in the Middle East but would like to brush up on their Arabic language and cultural studies may elect to apply for one of two API Arabic Studies hybrid program options.

3 Term, 3 Country Option
Students may choose to begin their Arabic language and cultural studies in our summer program at the University of Seville in Andalucia, Southern Spain – one of the last major strongholds of the Moors in Europe. Here students will study Arabic language and culture for the month of July. They then move on to spend the fall semester at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, the only university of its kind in London and one of the world’s leading institutions for Arabic language study. From there, students will finish their studies by completing a spring term at either Qatar University in Doha, Qatar or the American University of Sharjah in Sharjah, UAE.

2 Term, 2 Country Option
Students may also elect to begin their studies in London in the fall (foregoing the summer session in Seville) before moving on to continue their program in the spring in Doha or Sharjah.

These options provide a great opportunity for students to develop their Arablic language skills and cultural awareness for a full term before immersing themselves directly into an Arabic culture – and to study abroad in two or three completely different countries in the process! For a list of available courses at The University of Seville, Qatar University, and The American University of Sharjah, please consult the API website.

Note that the Seville, Qatar, and UAE programs may have additional application requirements. Transportation between the two countries is not included.

Further details will be available in the coming weeks on the API website and 2012-2013 API catalog.
