API Program Spotlight – Medical & Health in Salamanca, Spain

In case you missed it, API has extended application deadlines for several of our upcoming fall 2019 programs! Among the amazing programs you can still apply for: our Medical & Health Program in Salamanca, Spain!

A perfect option for health sciences students

This program is a great option for nursing students and those studying health management, pharmacology, biology and more. Enjoy the flexibility of deciding how much focus you want to put on health-related subjects; students can choose between two and four courses within their chosen field. Students who choose two health courses can supplement their coursework with additional classes offered in the International Studies program. Examples of those course options include History of Spain, Women in Spanish History, Political Science in the EU, Business Ethics, Marketing and more!

Mix up your learning with courses offered in English and Spanish

Classes taught as part of the Medical and Health Program are taught in English, but there are still ample opportunities to immerse yourself in the Spanish language and culture. To supplement your coursework, students can choose to enroll in Español médico (Medical Spanish), where classmates focus on basic medical vocabulary and common terminology that appear in the daily practice of medicine and health care in a Spanish-speaking environment.

In addition, there are also more general Spanish language courses as well as Spanish Literature, Culture, and Spanish for Professional Purposes. Salamanca is a beautiful city rich in Spanish history, and you’ll learn a great deal just from walking around the area!

International excursion included in your program cost

When you enroll in the Medical & Health Program, you’re also signing up for an international excursion! The price is INCLUDED in your program cost! Our fall program takes students to Paris, France and our on-site staff will show you the city’s stunning sights, including the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.

See more of Spain with API

In addition to an international excursion, API also takes students on excursions across Spain throughout the semester. Start your program in Spain’s capital of Madrid, a city that blends the modern with the past; explore the “City of Mankind’s Heritage” Toledo and learn more about its rich Jewish, Moor, and Christian history; walk the streets of Barcelona and learn flamenco; students even take a hiking trip through La Alberca!

Why Salamanca?

Nicknamed the City of Gold, Salamanca’s Plaza Mayor is considered one of the most beautiful in Spain. Salamanca gives off a very “university town” feel, which can help students feel more at home. In addition, this program gives students the chance to study at the oldest university in the country! The Universidad de Salamanca has been around since 1218 and was even acknowledged as one of the “four great universities in the world” by Pope Alexander IV.
